Narcoossee’s at the Grand Floridian in Walt Disney World

Narcoossee's Menu

Two years ago on our trip to Walt Disney World we started a tradition of choosing a “fancy” restaurant, as my kids say, and having dinner as a family.  Last year we went to Citrico’s for a three-hour meal. This year when we were choosing the restaurant my daughter asked if we could pick somewhere that wouldn’t be quite that long. We couldn’t guarantee how long dinner would take but we had her help pick the restaurant by looking at all the menus. She chose Narcoossee’s and the rest of the family agreed. Living in Michigan we don’t get fresh seafood often and this sounded perfect.

We arrived at the restaurant 15-20 minutes early hoping to be seated a bit early. The restaurant was fairly busy so we waiting outside for 20-30 minutes. It was a beautiful night with a light breeze.  We were seated by one of the large windows inside. We were very excited to be able to look over the lagoon as we dined.

After ordering drinks we decided on 3 appetizers for the table. Well, almost 3. My children wanted mussels and calamari, neither of which I like, so I chose the crab cake all for myself!

Narcoossee Jumbo Lump Crab Cake

The Jumbo Lump Crab Cake was amazing. It was almost completely crab with little filler. The micro greens and remoulade sauce added a nice bit to bite to the dish. Not overwhelming in any way.

Narcoossee Fried Calamari

The Crispy Calamari was served on a platter. Both of my children were surprised and excited at such a large serving. There was not a piece left by the end of drinks.

Narcoossee - Prince Edward Island Mussels

The platter of mussels was just as impressive as the calamari. There was plenty of broth to dip the toasted bread in. Both of my children were in heaven. They were starting to be full by the end of appetizers and there was still dinner.

Narcoossee - Steak and Butter Poached Lobster Tail

My daughter and I ordered the Butter-poached Cold Water Lobster Tail with Filet Mignon. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked but it was the lobster tail that did me in. I would eat a dinner of just the butter-poached lobster tail. It was delicious! I couldn’t finish the steak but I made sure to eat every bit of the lobster tail.

Narcoossee - 2 Pound Maine Steamed Lobster

My partner and my son each ordered the Two Pound Maine Steamed Lobster Tail. They thought it was the best lobster tail they ever had. We have had lobster tails up and down the east coast so that they thought this was the best is a high compliment. Both of them were impressed how it was presented. It made it much easier to eat having it all broken down for them. The corn dish in the center was reminiscent of the Corn Casserole we serve at Thanksgiving. Both part of this as they thought it was rather ordinary.

Pecan Tart

As the night went on it was harder and harder to photograph the food. The sun had set and I really didn’t want to bother other diners with a flash going off 15-20 times during our meal.  This was the Pecan Tart I ordered for dinner. It was delicious but heavy. After such a rich dinner I really should have chosen something lighter. The only part I was disappointed in was the chocolate “cup” that it was served in tasted manufactured. It did not have the luxurious taste I would have expected from the dish.

Narcoossee - Pear Tart with Cranberry Sauce

This Pear Tart with Cranberries is no longer on the menu. My daughter thought it was nice and light but needed a bit more flavor.

Narcoossee - Creme Brulee

Finally my son’s gluten-free Creme Brulee. When the chef heard that his favorite dessert was Creme Brulee he told my son he would have one ready by the end of our meal. It was wonderful. My son usually only eats this in Disney World so it is an extra special treat for him.

We loved our dinner at Narcoossee’s. Everyone liked this more than Citrico’s. I think the atmosphere was a bit more relaxed and modern. The food was much more to our liking as we don’t have much fresh seafood in Michigan this was a real treat. We would definitely return to Narcoossee’s again in the future!
