Naan Pizza with Creamy Garlic Sauce and Sausage

Naan Pizza with Garlic Sauce and Sausage

Because I pretty much write my blog in real-time it is tough to get it together some days. Today is one of those days. Many bloggers have blog posts planned out days, weeks or months in advance, because of what I write about it is usually the next day or occasionally a couple of days later if it is a weekend.

But, we spent the weekend in Chicago for two dance Feises. These were fun Feises because we did not have to take my daughter’s Irish dance dress or wig. For those who know Irish dance competitions, Feis, how can that be? The first was the MHG Halloween Feis so dancers wore their Halloween costumes while dancing Irish reels, jigs, horn pipes, etc…. Then the Feis on Sunday was the Meyer Black and White Feis which was plain black skirts or shorts with white or black tops. No wigs, no fancy hair bows or pieces,  and no school indicators on your clothing were the rules.

We had a wonderful weekend. We love being in Chicago and with the time change and the change in time zones we were able to be up bright and early and not feel overly tired. The best part was the sun was up on the way to the Feis the second day.

My daughter did a great job on Saturday getting a first in Jig, second in Treble Jig, fourth in reel, fourth in Slip Jig and a fifth in Horn Pipe. Though she was very happy with her first place she actually said she was really proud of her fifth place finish in Horn Pipe. This was the first time she danced at the higher level in this dance and she was competing against 11 other girls, many who have been dancing at this level for a while now. She finished in the upper half on her first try!

Sunday did not go as well but she ended the day with a second in Slip Jig and a third in Reel.

Our son was happy because he got to go to the mall and go to the Lego store while his sister danced. So, overall even though they missed trick or treating this year we all had a nice weekend.

So, back to food. I love having packages of Naan in my freezer. We eat them all the time with Mediterranean, Greek and Lebanese food but we also love them as pizza bases on nights when time is tight. As you can tell time has been tight around our house. So, the kids decided they wanted pizza and I didn’t really have time to make a crust and didn’t want to go buy one so out came the Naan.

Verdict:

Super delicious and tons of flavor. This garlic sauce is GARLICKY! If you don’t like as much garlic cut it back taste it and add as you like. We LOVED it. It also mellows a bit as you cook it, not much but some.

We served this with a green side salad for dinner.

Ingredients:

  • 2 packages of Naan (4 crusts)
  • Garlic Sauce – Recipe can be found here: Papa Murphy’s Creamy Garlic Sauce
  • Italian Sausage casings removed
  • 8 oz. Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 2 oz. Parmesan Cheese, shredded

Directions:

  1. Make the Garlic Sauce first and allow it to rest and let the flavors meld while you cook the Italian Sausage.
  2. Break the sausage into little pieces with the side of the spoon as it cooks.  When fully cooked remove from pan to paper towel covered plate to absorb any extra grease.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  4. Place Naan on a rimmed baking sheet. Cover each Naan with Garlic Sauce leaving a slight 1/4″ crust around the edge uncovered. Divide cheese among the pizzas. Then sprinkle sausage over the cheese.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until top is bubbly and just starting to brown. Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting.

I read about people planning 2-3 weeks in advance. I can do some Facebook stuff ahead but not blogging.
