This was my Valentine’s Day gift. No, not this year, but a recreation from our first Valentine’s Day together. We had only been dating for about a month and a half when Valentine’s Day rolled around. I didn’t want to celebrate Valentine’s Day and made that very clear. I wasn’t sure what I was doing with my life and was even debating about leaving the area.
My cupboards were often bare as I was trying to get a full-time teaching job and picking up substitute teaching jobs whenever I could. I was poor. Dinners were often a Lipton Noodle package or Ramen Noodles because they were so cheap.’
I had mentioned once that one of my favorite meals was Bisquik pancakes with Mrs. Butterworth’s syrup. This is something we never had at our house when I was a child but when I went to my Grandma’s this was my favorite meal she would make for me. I knew when I saw the tiny cast iron skillet, perfect for one pancake, come out I was having pancakes!
Though there have been many wonderful gifts over the past 20 years (yes, we are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year) this one is still the best. I have the homemade gift wrap with little hearts drawn all over it in my Memory Box. This gift was truly from the heart.
So tonight we are having Bisquik pancakes and Mrs. Butterworth’s Syrup with the kids in honor of our first Valentine’s Day together.
sTRANGER THINGS COULD OF HAPPENED I SUPPOSE???

Thank you! I figure 20 years later there have been some good gifts but the best was that first one that let me know I was heard.

Oh yes, loved this post. It was timely to be reminded that it is not the gift itself that matters, but the memory it creates, for that is the treasure beyond worth.
