New Year’s Resolutions – Checking In on My Year of Living with Joy

So instead of making a New Year’s Resolution this year I chose the word “Joy” as the guiding word for the year. I tried to keep the word in front of me as I made decisions and went about my days this year. For the most part, despite a few days this past month, I think I have been doing well.

Don’t get me wrong being a mom isn’t joyful everyday but I am trying to find the little things and changing my perspective when things go wrong. When the sink broke it was an inconvenience but I could get it fixed and I don’t have to carry water miles every day for my family just to get a drink. When my son is having an off day and several meltdowns from his Autism I have to remember it is getting better. The meltdowns are shorter, less frequent and we are starting to be able to talk about where his anxiety is coming from. Steps forward. Joy in the little things.

I have even started thinking about my word for next year. I am thinking Purposefully or Thoughtfully for my word.  After this last election I want to make my voice, money and actions match my ideals. I try most of the time to do this but I become complacent and lazy in making them all match. Do I drive the extra distance to support the store that matches what I believe or go to the closer one that donates to organizations I don’t believe in. Making my thoughts, words, and deeds match is one goal I am thinking of.

What will your word be?

I hope to be able to do something , like give Target store some love. They’ve added extra toilet for theLGTB folks in all of their stores. It’s a large , draining expense , but they will do it, just the same. Sorry, I digress. ^__^

Target is my go to when they have the product I need available. 🙂 I just bought IPODS there the other day.
