I have been to church for bell choir rehearsal and then playing during the service. We are now home and my daughter made me this wonderful salad with spinach, green apple, cheddar cheese and turkey. I am roasting a giant ham now so that we have meat for dinners the next few days. Next week I will roast a turkey on Sunday. We try to fix huge meals on Sunday to have leftover meat and all the vegetables we need prepped for the next few days. It cuts down on my time in the kitchen if everything is ready to go when I need it. I need a day to get it all organized or the plans for the week fly out the door!
I have to confess that I have been obsessed with the news lately so I haven’t been at the top of my game in getting dinners together. I have watched the hearings on the nominees for cabinet positions. I have listened to speeches that at times have made me cringe with fear and wonder. I have been listening for that thread that will give me hope.
I spent yesterday watching and reading all the reports from the marches around the world. I had friends and family marching in London; New York City; Washington, D.C.; Rochester, NY; Seneca Falls, NY; Lansing, MI; Kalamazoo, MI; Boulder, CO; and Chicago, IL. Their pictures were amazing.
I know people are questioning if the people at the marches really know what they are marching for or against. I think some do. I think some are being carried along by emotion and wanting to “fix” things but not sure how. I think some are there just for being part of the moment. But, the sheer number of people when added together all over the world made me very emotional.
At church as we prayed for peace, and understanding, and strength for the new President today I teared up a bit. I truly am looking for peace and understanding for everyone. May your day be spent surrounded by those you love, doing all the things you love to do!

Lovely post. I think it is time to acknowledge that women know their own mind’s best, and know best what they think and want, and of course different women think differently, that is part of knowing. The days of convincing women that what they think is not reliable are over.

I hope ao. Except my daughter doesn’t like cooking meat. I could see her becoming vegetarian when she leaves home. Yes! I am praying for this nightly.

I’m on the same page as you! Saturday I felt so proud of everyone peacefully standing up for what they believe in. The best thing we can do is empower daughters, nieces, and all the little ones to shoot for the stars and never give up. It sounds like you’re doing just that with your children. 🙂

It is so hard not to be but it is making me anxious and nervous which are never good. I need turn it off and read or do other things more. 🙂
