We all have them. A stash of plastic dishes from drive thru and take-out meals. I have quite a collections of Chick-fil-A containers. I love their grilled nuggets, soups and super salad (I eat kale!). We were challenged, by Chick-fil-A, to up cycle the containers and were given 2 free chicken tortilla soups from Chick-fil-A to get us started.
How can I use these containers?
Start your garden to replant later or create an indoor herb garden. The large size soup containers are great for herb gardens and the small salad containers are perfect for starting shoots for replanting in the Spring. Using a nail or sharp tack punch 4-6 holes in the bottom of the container for drainage. Add dirt, seeds, water and place the containers in sunlight to start your shoots or herb garden.
Spray paint your bowls and create colorful containers for your dresser. In a well ventilated area spread newspapers and carefully spray pain the containers. If you want an even sprayed look allow the layers to dry in between coats of paint. I liked the black with the gold (had an antique look that is hard to see in this photograph). Hot glue a wooden ball or decorative topper to the cover to make your bowl unique. Drop your change or rings into the bowls at night.
Organize those office supplies. The boxes of staples, paper clips, and push pins break and fall all over the floor. Label the bowls and stack them for a neater look. You can spray paint them to match your decor if you like!
It is cold here in Michigan but I love to go to the beach. Fill them with sand and tiny pebbles for a zen garden that can transport you to the beach in your mind. Add a mini-rake from the craft store and you can rearrange it endlessly.
Organize your dresser drawers or catch-all drawer with small containers. They are the perfect size for hair bands, stray game pieces, or odd-and-ends. All of our dressers have 2-4 of these in the front of a top dresser drawer to hold small items.

I use a lot of mine for painting, especially old shower curtains. They make great drop cloths!

These are all great up-cycle ideas! I’ve never been to a Chick-Fil-A, we don’t have one here. I have plenty of salad containers from Safeway though!
