Cheeseburgers on Homemade Pretzel Rolls

Sometimes my family just wants plain old cheese burgers. I understand. They look at me and ask for no baby greens, diced jalapeno, cream sauces, or other weird ingredients on top. So, I made a point of making plain old cheese burgers. Of course I had to put them on pretzel rolls but still…

Verdict:

I have a confession to make, I am not a burger fan. It would be the last thing I think I would choose to eat. If we are deciding to go out to eat I never want to go out for burgers. The fries, onion rings, or sides are more appealing to me than a burger. I don’t get the rest of my family who really crave them. So, once in a while I treat them all to just a burger.

I have included our classic burger mixture below but feel free to add and change it to what you like. The pretzel rolls are what made it for me. Usually I will take my burger off the bun because to me it is usually too much bread and I like the flavor of the burger not the bread. But, these pretzel rolls were perfect for me. I used the same recipe as for our pretzel bites but made them into rolls instead.

Tip: Don’t over handle the dough once it has risen. Carefully pinch off rolls from the dough or you may end up with flat rolls. Also, make sure the area you are working in and letting the dough set in is warm enough. On top of a warmed oven or an area without drafts is best.

You can buy them in some bakeries here but they aren’t as popular. I think they are wonderful!

If you have a bread maker they are super simple! Even if you don’t you can make them similar to a regular roll just with slightly different ingredients.
