When I started looking at my stats over the past week or so I noticed a HUGE spike. My numbers are usually fairly consistent so I had to dig around to see what happened.
This post for Watermelon and Feta Salad with Balsamic Reduction (click for link to original post) was recently saved over 100 times to Pinterest. This blog post only rated so-so when I first posted it. Interesting how things can come back around over a year later and do so well. So for the last week or so I have enjoyed a nice little bump in my stats. I’ll take it.
Have you ever had a blog post not do so well at first but gained traction later?
The salad looks and sounds delicious. I think that it fits well with the keto-type eating style that is trending these days.

Thank you. My family loved the salad and it was funny to have it show back up over a year later.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that you have more followers than a year ago. Sometimes I need to repost an older post (two years or older) and they reach more readers today but because of the fact that there are more readers.

Thanks, Erika. Possibly. I forget to go back and repost things from time to time that we really enjoy. I need to do it a bit more.

I have indeed had a cookie recipe that just recently went viral which surprised me somewhat as the pictures were so so and an older post! We’ll take when we can right!

I was amazed when that happened to me a couple of years ago and the recipe is still circulating. It was a old post from 2012. It is like the recipe gods smiled down on the recipe.

I had several over the years that has done that. Just out of the blue it gets passed around Pinterest. Those posts are still pulling in views on a daily basis on my stats report. The past few days I have been thinking about spending more time on Pinterest and braking up the recipe board I have into food group boards. I was over there this week researching vintage Jell-O salads when the idea hit me I should be following some of these boards and doing more sharing from here on the new boards from all the recipes I see on WordPress. I think a lot of eyes have moved to the boards from other social media. It would save me from a long bookmark list and easier to find on a picture board. I am usually a day late and a dollar short on coming up with workable ideas. It is easier and faster to scan a board with pictures then just relying on a search engine.
Another thing that just recently happened to me was my followers list took a big jump up this summer. I have had many non WordPress users following recently.
Congratulations on the salad recipe. It is a good one. I remember when you first posted it.

Thank you! I too am taking a look at Pinterest. I think that is my area of growth. Everything else is static.

I tried face book but it fizzled out. You can only build so many wp followers based on the time you have to follow them and that is were I leveled off at. Pinterest don’t require much upkeep..

That salad looks delish!! I make a watermelon salad and love it but that balsamic reduction. Wow! And yes, I have had that happen before with posts. For some reason my method of doctoring up refried beans so they’d taste like they came from a restaurant sat around for years and then took off. Weird, huh!!

Thanks! Now I need to look up that recipe for refried beans for next month! I love refried beans and can never make them right.

I just did a grocery haul and I got the stuff to make your Sesame noodles. I couldn’t find the toasted sesame oil so I got regular Sesame oil. Will they turn out right is what I wanted to ask you.

I think so. The flavor may be a bit different but it should still be okay. I hope you like them.
