Glazed Slow Cooker Meatballs

My family loves these meatballs. We usually make them with grape jelly and chili sauce but our local grocery store was out of chili sauce. I had read that you could substitute barbecue sauce. I was hesitant on changing the recipe as my family really loves the chili sauce meatballs but what would they say if I didn’t tell them?

Verdict:

These were good! Super easy to make and the family loved them just as much as the chili sauce and grape jelly meatballs. The flavor is different but still really good. These would be perfect for a game day snack, a saucy appetizer for a teen party, or just a fun dinner.

I used the 1/2 oz. meatballs to keep them bite sized for people. I find the 1 oz. meatballs just a bit to large for one bite.

Ingredients:

  • 2 – 2 1/2 lbs. (1/2 oz.) meatballs, frozen
  • 1 cup grape jelly
  • 1 (18 oz) bottle Barbecue Sauce (use your favorite I used Sweet Baby Ray’s)

Directions:

  1. Spray bowl of slow cooker with non-stick spray. Mix meatballs, grape jelly, and barbecue sauce together in bowl of slow cooker.
  2. Heat for 2 – 2 1/2 hours on low. Stir meatballs well and check that they are heated through prior to serving.

do you eat them on their own or would you pair these with spaghetti or something similar?

These we used as an appetizer on their own. They were a perfect sized one bite app. They would be good with rice though… Hmmm, maybe next meal.
