Grilled Peach Sundaes

As the days have officially turned to fall I am sure our days of grilling are going to fewer and far between. We still are trying to keep the grilling going as long as we can. We have decided to grill our Thanksgiving turkey though as we loved the grilled one this summer. So, we are buying a canister to grill a bit over the winter. We have a covered protected area we can grill in as long as the snow isn’t too bad.

Our CSA farm basket had a few of probably the last peaches in it and we decided to grill them for a nice sundae to celebrate the beginning of fall.

Verdict: We love grilled peaches. Buy the best buttery caramel sauce you can find to make these tasty treats the best. I lightly brushed the cut side of the peaches with a bit of butter to help with the browning but you don’t need to if you brush your grill well with oil.

Next time my kids asked for some crushed Biscoff cookies on top. Crushed graham crackers would also work too!

Grilled Peach Sundaes

  • Servings: 8-10
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 large peaches, pick well ripened peaches that are a bit softer
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 2-3 tablespoons brown sugar, if desired
  • 1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream, your favorite
  • caramel sauce, pick the best you can find

Directions:

  1. Cut peaches in half and remove pit. Do not remove skin from peaches. Brush with melted butter and place on a baking sheet.
  2. Prepare your grill. Heat to medium-high. Place peaches cut side down and don’t move them for 2-4 minutes while they brown. As they brown and get grill marks turn them over to grill the skin side. At this point add a bit of brown sugar to the hole made by the pit if desired.
  3. Once peaches are warmed with grill marks on both sides remove them to the baking sheet and place peach halves in bowls. Top with ice cream and warm caramel topping as desired.
  4. Serve hot!

I remember the huge and juicy peaches I bought at Wegman’s when we lived in the US. I loved those peaches and ate them daily … and I don’t think it was because I was pregnant at that time… lol
