New Year’s Eve

We are not big party people but this New Year’s Eve feels different than any other. I think we have such high hopes for the coming year and all that we may be able to do again it feels charged with hope and tinged with fear. This year my son will graduate high school. Both of my kids will to to college (fingers crossed). We will vacation as a family. We will see my parents. We will go out to eat in restaurants at some point this year.

I am excited. I have started cleaning and planning. I feel like I am coming alive again. I feel hope again. So many times it has been dashed this year. I think I just gave up hoping and was going along with the flow. Nothing is going to change so why plan? Why hope when everything has been cancelled so many times?

I see my friends who are older or in the medical field getting Covid-19 shots and saying how grateful they are. Things are going to change. No they will not be like they were before, ever, but they will change.

What are you planning for in the New Year?

That is exactly how I am spending my evening – with my little family. I know this may be the last year so we are savoring it.

  6. Tonight will be mellow, no parties, but maybe party favors if I’m still up at midnight.
I hope to travel more in 2021 and see my mom.

Happy New Year to you and yours!

Happy New Year! May 2021 be a wonderful year for you all.

As for us… honestly, not a lot has changed. We were already homebodies, and since moving to the farm, there’s really nowhere to go out to, anyhow. At least nothing my husband’s pain levels can handle, and I have no desire to go anywhere to celebrate without him. So we will have a rib dinner tonight – something I haven’t done in ages – and … that’s about it! šŸ˜€

Next year will be much the same as this year. There are some benefits to living in the middle of nowhere, and living on my husband’s disability income has turned out to be another blessing, since it remained unchanged.

How nice to be together for New Year’s Eve. We are spending the holiday with just my little family and savoring that this may well be the last of all four of us for awhile with both kids moving to college next year. It is time but enjoying them while we can. The rib dinner sounds good. We haven’t done that in ages our meal is surf and turf. Scallops, shrimp, and crab legs with steak. Being in Michigan doesn’t afford a lot of fresh seafood because they have to fly it in. So, we are taking advantage of the NYE sales. šŸ™‚ Wishing you a Happy New Year!

New Year’s Eve here in the Ocean State will be lobster mac and cheese for ONE, along with a cold bottle of Castellani Pinot Grigio (from my sister-in-law’s family vineyard in Italy). Hoping the planes and boats are still operating so I can take my postponed (and paid for) bucket list trip to Rome, Greece, the Holy Land, Crete, and cruise the Mediterranian for two weeks. Also want LOTS and :LOTS of family gatherings and hugs along wth friends and neighbors stopping by. . ——————————————————————–
