Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

I have strange food things. Like I don’t really care for chocolate chip cookies. I like the dough without the chocolate chips or nuts in it. I prefer all brown sugar. But, give me these big bakery style cookies that are solid and heavy and I love them. Strange I know but they are so rich and decadent. I haven’t been able to recreate it in a smaller cookie. These need to be big and heavy to give you that bakery style dense cookie.

Verdict: These are heavy, dense, and delicious! I love the buttery taste with the chocolate pieces and nuts. I used mini chips to spread the chocolate through the cookies better. One cookie is equivalent to 4-6 smaller ones. They are HUGE!

Bakery Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet your choice
  • 2 cups pecans, roughly chopped (may also use walnuts)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together cold cubed butter, brown sugar, and sugar until light and creamy.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each one.
  4. Stir in flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined to avoid over mixing. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.
  5. Divide dough into 8 large balls and place on rimmed cookie sheet. Place 4 on one sheet as they will spread.
  6. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown on the top. Let them rest for at least 10 minutes to set before removing from pan.

  5. See, I’m just the opposite. I once bought the min chocolate chips and I couldn’t really taste them. I like the 12 ounce bag of semisweet chocolate morsels, not the 10 ounce, as well as pecan pieces, so I have a 50-50 ratio of chips and pecans to cookie dough. 😋 I just made some yesterday! I think that I am the original cookie monster! 🍪

    But it’s all good, lol!
