I have a stash of quick throw together dinners in my back pocket in case I need them. Tonight was one of those nights. Dinner tonight was to be General Tso’s Chicken (homemade of course). But, due to the events of the day we had Ground Turkey tacos instead.
I browned my ground turkey in a fry pan and then drained what little fat was left in the pan. I added one cup of water and the Taco Seasoning Mix from Allrecipes.com.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Mix all ingredients together. I have to say this is one recipe that I followed exactly and made no substitutions.
Once the meat and sauce had cooked down a bit I served the tacos in crispy taco shells with a buffet of chopped lettuce, diced onions, diced tomatoes, sliced olives, shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream, salsa and taco sauce so everyone could add their favorite toppings.
This is always a favorite meal in our house.
