So this has been on Pinterest for about a year now. Fill your taco shells with meat and cheese and then put them in a 350 degree oven for about 3 minutes for the cheese to melt and the shells to freshen up. I never bothered doing this as by the time the tacos are ready to make my family is already sitting at the table waiting for me to just hand them a plate with tacos on it so they can start filling them.
But, I finally had to do it just to see if I really should do it this way.
The Good:
- All the tacos were done at the same time and there was no arguing over who got theirs “first.”
- The cheese was all melted and gooey inside the taco.
- Everyone could see that they were all the same and there was no arguing over who got more filling or more cheese.
- All the shells stayed open and were easier to stuff. Sometimes when I heat mine in the oven the shells collapse before I can get them out.
The Not so Good:
- The bottoms of the tacos were a little soggy where the taco “juices” had settled.
- My kids felt they needed to add more cheese even though I already put cheese on them because the couldn’t really see the cheese.
- Making them stand up was a bit of a pain so that the stuff didn’t run out or they collapsed.
Would I do this again? Probably if I were making a large batch of tacos I wanted to all be done at the same time. But to me it was just another pan to wash.
