Creamy Pizza Margherita

I freely admit that I am a sucker for the grocery store easy meal preparation stations.  The reason I bought the ingredients for this recipe was that it was an easy dinner and the smell of basil wafting through the store was too hard to resist the temptation not to buy the ingredients and make it at home.

Ingredients:

  • 2 premade pizza shells – pre-baked
  • Olive Oil
  • 10 oz. container of Creamy Philadelphia Italian Herb Cooking Creme
  • 2 cups of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Handful of fresh basil – chopped
  • 2 handfuls of grape tomatoes – quartered and seeded if possible
  • Fresh grated Parmesan Cheese (if desired)

Directions:

  1. Pre heat oven to 400.
  2. Lightly brush pizza shell with olive oil on both sides
  3. Spread 1/2 of a container of the Creamy Philadelphia Herb Cooking Creme on each pizza shell leaving a small edge clean around the outside.
  4. Sprinkle 1 cup of Mozzarella Cheese on each pizza.  Sprinkle with freshly grated Parmesan cheese at this point if you desire.
  5. Sprinkle basil and tomatoes equally over the two pizzas.
  6. Place pizzas directly on the baking rack for a crispy pizza or a cookie sheet for a less crispy pizza.  Bake for 15-20 minutes until browned.
  7. Let sit 5 minutes before cutting.

My house smelled amazing for hours.  The kids were a bit skeptical of the pizza at first but once they tasted it they both asked to take leftovers for lunch the next day.  That’s a hit in our book!
