Lazy Lasagna or Ravioli Lasagna Bake

Day 79 – Well, my house is the cleanest it has been in a long time. We are now going through closests, drawers, and all those little nooks and crannies that hide things and sorting everything out. I had planned on doing this the first week of “Stay Home. Stay Safe.” but the best laid plans of mice and men…. But, we are finally getting around to it. My kids are  liking it and hating it all at the same time. They like the organized spaces but hate pulling everything out and sorting it. Though they did find a ViewMaster the other day and that provided them hours of memories.

This will probably be the last heavy casserole for a while. The comfort food is still on the menu but looking to spread it out a bit and try to find some lighter summer foods and salads. I don’t think my family will let me stray too far away from comfort foods.

Verdict: We love this dish. It gives us the lasagna flavors with the ease of the ravioli. I always burn my fingers on the noodles and the no boil noodles just aren’t the same to me. So, I fake it sometimes with this dish. You can bake the ravioli from frozen but you will need to add  extra time and be aware not to add too much sauce as they melting ravioli will give off some liquid to add to the dish.

I served this with green beans and a green side salad.

Lazy Lasagna

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage or removed from casings
  • 1 (28 oz) jar of marinara sauce or homemade sauce
  • 15 oz. container of Ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup+ Parmesan cheese, shredded – extra for topping as desired
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 (32 oz) package of cheese ravioli, thawed if frozen

Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9″ x 13″ casserole dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Brown the Italian sausage. Break it into small pieces as it cooks. Place on paper towel to drain grease.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mix the Ricotta, egg, Parmesan, and garlic powder until fully combined. Add the Italian sausage to the cheese mixture.
  4. Add marinara sauce to cover the bottom of the baking dish. Arrange uncooked ravioli on top of the sauce flat side down.
  5. Add 1/2 of the cheese mixture to the baking dish using a spatula. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella over the ravioli. Pour 1/2 of the remaining marinara sauce on top of the mozzarella cheese.
  6. Repeat a layer of ravioli (flat side up), cheese and finishing with the sauce. Top with another up of mozzarella cheese.
  7. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and browning. Cool, cut, and serve! Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese as desired.

  2. I also did a huge spring clean on Saturday of some of my rooms. I am trying to do one a week. It is very time consuming though and I am working full time. Well done to you and the kids. I love this recipe.

  3. That looks lovely. I’m afraid I’ve been very lazy about cleaning. despite being at home, but have read a lot of books and watched a lot of TV.
