Day 84 – I never thought I would be writing this but as of Monday, June 8th Michigan is opening again! Not everything but at least the “Stay Home. Stay Safe” will be over. All the CDC guidelines still remain in place but things are moving forward!
You still cannot go to a hair salon, get your nails done, go to a gym or dance class but you can eat in a restaurant at either 25% or 50% capacity. I know that some of the restaurants around here are exploring outdoor options. Also, I saw one area that is considering closing down a street so that the restaurants can expand their outdoor seating. I thought that was a genius idea.
We as a family are still limiting our time away from home but are venturing out a bit more. My daughter went to the post office and 2 stores today to pick up graduation cards and a few other items we would like. She usually tries to stay away from stores but is finally feeling a bit more secure in going into places. Of course she wears a mask and carries hand sanitizer with her everywhere too.
We are planning on ordering out next week and heading to a park for a picnic. We are so excited. It is the little things right now that make life seem almost normal again.
Are your states open? What is the thing you are most looking forward to doing?
You will still encounter the “fear factor” wherever you go. Watch and see. 👀🍃

I have a feeling as we watch the numbers go up and down it will be like that for awhile.

I almost hate to share this, but I got my hair cut today after almost 13 weeks. I keep standing 5 week appointments, and when our state of RI finally opened in Phase 2 on Monday hair salons could open (nail salons not yet) with restrictions like no blow drying, but I had already missed two appointments. My wonderful hairdresser of 27 1/2 years insisted on coming to the house since she knew I had been hospitalized. And then she wouldn’t take any money. Thank you Emie for being more than an service but for being a friend.

How awesome. Glad to hear you are on the mend! I am thinking of now letting my “glitter” strands go and stop coloring my hair since it has been so long. I haven’t decided yet. 🙂

I have yet to go to a store but I put on a mask and had a pedicure yesterday. I was terrified watching the busy salon’s business but at least everyone wore a mask. I fond if I breathe through my nose my glasses don’t fog up as much. We’ve been open here for a month and I’m still staying home mostly. We dine out at restaurants but that seems safer.

Nice! I am not quite ready for the salons yet. At the grocery store this morning almost no one was wearing masks! It seemed like the governor said everything can open and everyone interpreted that as okay Covid gone. EEK!

That’s how it is here in WI too. Everything is fully opened now even though they say we should still take precautions. No one is. As soon as it opened, the virus left apparently. (Even though our numbers are still increasing).
