Day 231/ Week 33: Happy Halloween! We are once again preparing for an unknown here. Will we have 200-300 trick or treaters or 2? They announced last month, before Michigan numbers for Covid-19 started spiking, that they would have in person trick or treating in our area. There are lots of trunk or treats and drive through trick or treating in our area that have been announced but do we buy candy for 200-300, our usual amount of kids on a good trick or treating year, or lots fewer? We went with the better be safe than sorry idea so we have TONS of candy. I may be baking with Halloween candy for months. Anyone know any good recipes using Skittles or Sweet Tarts?
My son went back to school on Thursday, which was a virtual day, so he finally attended school yesterday, just in time to dress up for Halloween. He loves Halloween. It is his favorite day of the year. He loves to think about his costume for quite awhile. He really wanted to go dressed as Dorian Gray with a frame around his upper body and half his face aging and the other half normal but I finally convinced him that no one in his high school, other than probably him, would have read “The Portrait of Dorian Gray,” by Oscar Wilde.
So this was his costume:
The best part was that he had an orchestra rehearsal after school yesterday and went with his hair all curly. Then he walked into the orchestra concert last night dressed like Charlie Brown. Every other year they do an orchestra concert where they get to dress up in costume. The kids were like, “Wait. Was your head shaved at rehearsal?” He said, “Everyone last night and today kept saying, “That is dedication to your costume!”
So, are you having trick or treating in your areas? Any fun costumes out there?
Today we have frost on the pumpkin. 🎃🍂

Halloween has now passed, Marci. Did the kids come or not? Charlie Brown is a great costume.

75-100 not bad. It was a gorgeous night too. So usually we would expect 200-300. But, it was nice to feel normal.
