In Animal Kingdom you can cross into Dinoland USA and find The Theater in the Wild. This theater currently houses “Finding Nemo – The Musical.” When we were there the show was playing five times during the day. Hours of showing and number of shows vary by crowd levels and seasons. Check the Time Guides for hours of showing on the days you are there.
I was a HUGE fan of the previous show “Tarzan Rocks.” This was a must do on each and every trip for us. The action was amazing. The show changed slightly over the years but at different times they had the monkeys rappelling in from the ceiling, skateboarding through the audience and bikes doing tricks on stage. The audience sing-along in the beginning and the action throughout the show was amazing! But, times change and the theater was renovated for Finding Nemo – The Musical.
As you enter the theater it is slightly darkened and the lightening makes you feel as if you have stepped under the sea. Even the stage is set with globes that are made to look like giant air bubbles moving through the water.
The show is told through giant puppets. If you look closely at the picture above you can see that even the anemones are controlled by people.
All of the favorite characters from the movie are in the musical.
The best part is that after a while you tend to not notice the people and get lost in the story line. The singers and puppeteers were amazing!
Though it will never top “Tarzan Rocks!” in my opinion it is still a nice little show that will leave you singing “In the Big Blue World” for the rest of your day. Though it is not on our must do list for every trip we do enjoy the show every time we go.
Very nice!
