The Piano Guys – Our Weekend Treat

We went to see a concert with the Piano Guys the other night. I didn’t really know what to expect. I had heard the kids play a few of their songs on Youtube but didn’t really know what to expect. They had a cellist and my son plays the cello. Then a friend was getting group tickets so I thought why not? The kids will like going with their friends and it can’t be that bad.

Right up until the time I left for the concert I really didn’t want to go. It was a very long week and I just wanted to stay home in my jammies, wrapped in a blanket and staring at Netflix. But, my family really wanted me to go so I grudgingly went.

I am so glad I did. The Piano Guys were so funny that my cheeks hurt from laughing so much. The music was fun at times, achingly beautiful at times and interesting at times. But, it was always entertaining. They played the above piece with the visuals playing above them it was just amazing. I sat and the tears ran down my cheeks as I listened to this piece. The explanation they gave before the song began was that they went to Rio to play in front of the Christ the Redeemer Statue. They said it was impressive and they felt it was spiritual in a “This is what man built as a sign of his love for God” way. Then they went to Iguazu Falls and felt that it was spiritual on a totally different level. They said it felt like “God showing his love to man” in the beauty of the waterfalls. With the music and visuals I was a puddle.

They played with just enough classical music to get the kids interested in exploring more of it. We were talking on the way home about how they mix the styles and centuries and what other songs may be fun to put together.  The above introduced the harpsichord and talk box.

If you ever get a chance to go see them perform live – GO! It was well worth it to me.

I really like their music, I’m so glad you enjoyed it and had a good time. That’s kind of how I felt going to the first Thor movie, and then it was so great. Have you seen the Batman video? I hope they played it, it’s a really fun piece.
