So, in our house we have declared this the Summer of Grilling! We love to grill out but we start out with great intentions and then time and preparation take a back seat and we end up at the first day of school with only having grilled out about half a dozen times. Not this year!
We have already been grilling out quite a bit but our goal is 4-5 nights a week. Now, that means a bit of planning ahead (which I love to do anyway- really) to make sure if something needs to be marinated it is thawed and ready to go or if I can marinate it the night before I do. I have some great ideas for grilled pizzas, grilled sandwiches, and maybe even a grilled turkey!
We have to get our grill ready. I have been reading up quite a bit on how often and what to clean on your grill. We are pretty good about cleaning the grill itself after each use. Those little charred bits that some people leave on the grill are NOT good for you or your health. They should be wiped off the grill after each use. When was the last time you cleaned inside your grill lid? What, you never really thought about it? It should be cleaned every 3-6 months. And the outside of your grill at least 2 twice a year. So, if it has been awhile might be time to clean off your grill and join us in the summer of grilling!
What do you like to grill? I am looking forward to some grilled pizza, burgers, and kebobs too! Lots of great dinner and sides will be coming this summer!
That’s quite a plan and you are giving the “grilling season” a new meaning! Cool!

Thanks! I love grilled food and I am determined this year (since we are home more) to make it work!

A good occasion to make use of the opportunities these special times provide.

I love grilling at this time of year. I usually start the end of April and continue until there’s too much snow to get outside easily. Right now I average 6 times a week. Today is clean the gas grill day. We just bought a new grill last month and since I grill so often I tend to clean mine more frequently.
Happy Grilling 🙂

Yes! I love grilled food. I just never thought of cleaning inside the cover. I don’t know why. I always wipe the top off but just never occurred to me to wipe inside.

He-Man grills year round even on days there’s snow on the ground. He makes burgers, fish, steaks, Tri-tip, chicken, veggies, and warms up the bread.
He started using grilling mats to help keep the grill clean several years ago. He uses two types; a dark one and a copper one. He likes copper best. They’re a pain for me wash not because it’s a tough job- it’s not, the sauce and bits come off easily enough they just don’t fit in my double sink too well and they’re so pliable I find them a pain to wash. He says they keep the grill bottom pretty clean.
I’ll ask him when he last cleaned the top of the grill?
Baby Girl and the boys just gave The Handsome Surveyor a new grill for Father’s Day. I’ll pass your tip about cleaning it onto him. 😀

Nice! I need to consider grilling even in the snow but none of us want to be outside in the cold. Lol! Nice a new grill! I have to look at those mats too. I never heard of them. The pieces inside the bottom of the grill are the worst to clean. Those may help.
I just never thought of wiping the inside of the cover. I wipe the outside off all the time. I don’t know why it never occurred to me.

Sometimes once something dawns on us it’s incredible why we didn’t think of it before! It happens to me too.
These are He-Man’s favorite mats.
Since they’re washable he doesn’t need to buy them too often.

You-all must have gas grills. What about cleaning a charcoal grill? That’s what I have.

Thanks! The thing I don’t like is smelling like it after you grill with charcoal, lol.

I understand. I have a gas grill which doesn’t thrill me – we used charcoal for years and just switched.
