Not much longer until we won’t be grilling every night. I love burgers when they have lots of stuff on them and in them. Bacon, cheese, and onions of course are a favorite. I usually have fried onions on hand to top the burgers with but this time I needed to cook some onions to top them with. They are so good!
Verdict: You can use whatever seasoning you like in these. I love the Grill Mates Maple Bacon or Au Poivre seasonings. Make them spicy or sweet. It is up to you!
We served these with grilled corn and zucchini to complete the meal.
2 tablespoon McCormick® Grill Mates Maple Bacon Seasoning
2/3 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1/2 lb. sliced cooked bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces (I used extra for topping as desired)
8 hamburger rolls
2 large onions, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
Barbecue Sauce or other toppings as desired
Directions:
Mix ground beef and seasoning in bowl until well blended. Shape into 16 thin patties.
Mix cheese and bacon in small bowl. Place about 2 tablespoons of the cheese mixture in center of each of 8 patties. Top with remaining hamburger patties, pinching edges to seal filling. Make sure they are sealed well or the filling will leak out.
Melt butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook stirring occasionally until browned at edges. IF they are cooking to fast turn to low heat. You want them to cook down slowly to be sweeter.
Grill burgers over medium heat about 6 minutes per side or until burgers are cooked through. Toast rolls on the grill until lightly browned.
Serve burgers on toasted rolls, topped with onions and barbecue sauce as desired.
It’s all about the condiments. 😜🍃

And I never think to use butter to brown ground beef.
