Checking In: Day 224

I don’t know about you but as I am watching the number of Covid-19 cases rise across the country I am thankful that the percentage of people of dying from Covid is dropping significantly but I am concerned about the number of cases. When I went to the doctor the other day I was telling her about my son being quarantined by the County Department of Health and she said if schools in our area stay open into November she will be shocked. I guess they have been seeing more and more people with Covid symptoms sent for testing and in her practice.

We honestly didn’t think the schools would last this long. We thought my son would be in virtual school by mid to end of October. He is a bit bummed because this is his senior year that he is missing 10 days of school but on the other hand he is relishing sleeping in until 9 or 10 am and he has more time to work on his college essays.

My daughter signed up for a feis in Pittsburgh that recently opened up a few spots for dancers and since we weren’t able to go to New York because Michigan is now on their must quarantine list she decided to give it a try. For a girl that usually goes to Irish dance competitions 4-5 times a month going for her 7th Feis of the year in October is weird. But, she is going to visit a college too so that will be fun.

We are taking small trips, safely, and trying to do what we can to make this time fun. The looming rise in cases is scaring me a bit (fearing the unknown in jobs, illnesses, etc…) but I need to keep us all moving forward.
