I had not eaten in a restaurant since March 10, 2020. I had one long weekend away from our home between March 12, 2020 and last week. I am a travel agent. My whole family loves to travel. My children went to Disney World in August 2020 because they needed a break and I knew from my work that Disney was doing the right things to lessen the possibility of Covid-19 transmission. At that time airlines were also using 50% or less capacity so my kids flew down to Orlando.
Since that time the airlines have moved to using all seats on flights and since I have a susceptibility toward pneumonia and bronchitis we felt it was best that we drive down to Florida rather than fly. We love driving down because we view it as part of our vacation. A great deal of our favorite vacation memories are things that happen or things we talk about while on these trips.
We stayed in the Fort Wilderness Cabins because we felt they were spread apart and gave us the best feeling of safety for our family. Everywhere we went people were wiping down everything anyone touched. After we had our picture taken next to the Minnie Mouse statue on Main Street there was someone wiping down the statue in between pictures. It was amazing.
There were only 1 or 2 people we saw on our entire trip trying to flout the mandatory mask wearing rules at Walt Disney World. Other agents in the park said they saw a family removed when the father refused to wear a mask. There is no wiggle room in Disney’s policy. They say if you can’t or won’t wear a mask please plan on enjoying a trip to Walt Disney World at a later date when things return to normal. Every 10-15 minutes a reminder about masks, social distancing, and hand washing was played over each parks PA system.
Overall, the trip was great. I unplugged from my blog and social media for 2 weeks. It was so good. I focused on my family and the fun we were having. I have quite a bit to think about in the coming months. Where do I want to take this blog or do I want to continue it once my children are in college? I love my travel agent business and may want to devote more time to that. I have had several people contact me who are ready to travel. So much to think about!
I missed you and am glad you were gone for such a happy reason. Your blog is one of the things that has gotten me through this pandemic. Truly! Especially the first six months or so, when it seemed like I was working 24/7, it was so nice to come to my WordPress reader and check in with the blogs I follow. In the midst of such horrible news all around me, reading your blog and some others’ art, poetry, and history blogs was always a calming, enjoyable part of my day. Thank you for that! I hope you’ll continue with the blog in some form, but I also understand that it may have run its course once your children are out of the house. “What’s for dinner moms?” implies hungry children, after all. Best wishes and good luck as you consider what is next to come!❤️

Thank you for your nice words. I really needed to hear that I made a difference to someone today. Some days it seems we work in a vacuum and the words we put out are only for us. But, this made me smile today and I thank you so much!

Yes! Wondered where you were. Travel agent scratches my itch. Want to do maybe the WDW experience.

That is what made me want to become a travel agent. My family loves WDW and I was planning trips for friends and family and decided I wanted to help more people have great family vacations.
