I have been in Physical Therapy for the past month and a half. During this time they have been working on my back and hips. I have severe arthritis that I am working on keeping limber. The problem is about 4 weeks ago my “good knee” (the one I lead with going upstairs and down) crunched really loudly. I have babied it for awhile trying to see if I could get it back but it is not getting back to normal. So, after a doctor visit I need an x-ray of my knee and tibia to see if it is arthritis in my knee now (something new), a fractured tibia, or if the x-rays don’t show anything an MRI for a torn ligament. Just when one thing seems to get better another pops up. Getting old is tough!
But, there is so much goodness happening right now too. I can hear my son upstairs playing his Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) game. He created a one shot campaign for his birthday and is running it today. We are so happy. For so long he didn’t have birthday parties with friends. We did parties of family friends at baseball games or arcades. We took him on vacations for his birthdays for a party with us. But, now he has friends and last night we made deliveries to all 10 kids to drop off bottles of Sasparilla (root beer) and cupcakes. It was a western theme party so bandanas, sheriff’s badges, and cowboy boot mugs were included. I had so much fun with this. He had so much fun with this. It makes my heart happy to hear him having fun.
I just booked my daughter’s flights and hotel to Phoenix, Arizona this summer. She is going to dance in the Irish Dance Nationals this summer. She is so excited! This has been a goal of hers and they are doing Traditional Sets this summer so her dance teacher asked her if she wanted to go. Of course! She realizes this may be her only shot to dance at Nationals before leaving for college. We are gifting her the plane tickets and hotel for her birthday. So, excited for her.
So, lots of good things happening here. What good things are happening in your world?
I didn’t know that sasparilla was root beer! Well, I declare!
I have a funny knee that crackles when I exercise and trust me, Marci, you don’t have to be older for things to happen to you. I threw my back out when I was 27 and wound up with deep vein thrombophlebitis (blood clots) in the pelvic area. You just need a dose of bad luck when you exercising, bending over or happen to slip and fall. Just sayin’. 😉
My left knee’s been acting up as well, as I went down my basement stairs last week. I try to exercise in my house and went walking earlier this week to like you, keep it limber. I’ve had cortisone shots in my ankle, back, hip and shoulder. I say that I’m bionic, now that I have some hardware in my ankle and try to keep it moving, lol.

The knee can be tricky and painful. Hopefully your therapy will work. Best of luck.

I hope the cause for your issue with the knee is found soon and something that can be treated well. I am happy for your son to get back to a real birthday party. So, he is a May child too, like I am… hehe. Also, it sounds so wonderful that your daughter can have this wonderful time in summer. Looks like everything is going back to normal again in your world.
