Saturday Musings: Feeling it All

Last weekend my babies were home for 9 hours together. For one night we were all under the same roof and I was ecstatic! My daughter and I left for Chicago for an Irish dance competition at 7 am the next morning. It was a LONG weekend.

Then on Wednesday my wife had her second knee replaced. The first was in June. She is doing very well but I forget how much it takes out of me too being up at 6 am to get her to the surgery center then being there all day, driving the hour home, getting her settled and comfortable. I am grateful I get to be there but wow was I tired.

They say 40 is the new 20 or 50 is the new 30. I felt every one of my years this week deep in my bones. I was weary and exhausted. I haven’t felt that tired in years. So this weekend will be a weekend of rest for both of us as we both heal in different ways. Sometimes remembering to take the time to rest and rejuvenate is needed.

  1. I experienced that as well recently, having both children and both of us together at the same time for the better part of a day. It was wonderful.

I hope your wife heals up quick–
